Aiya Earindil Elenion Ancalima!

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and brake all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day.

A diversion

A Diversion!

Actually, it would be better if you didn’t speak at all.

All that is gold does not glitter;
Not all those who wander are lost.
The old that is strong does not wither;
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken;
A light from the shadows shall spring.
Renewed shall be blade that was broken;
The crownless again shall be king.

Aragorn: I do not fear death.

Aragorn: Eowyn, why have you come?
Eowyn: Do you not know?
Aragorn: It is but a shadow and a thought that you love.

Aragorn: Everyday Frodo moves closer to Mordor.
Gandalf: How do we know Frodo is alive?
Aragorn: What does your heart tell you?

Aragorn: For Frodo.

Aragorn: Gondor calls for aid!
[pause]
Theoden: And Rohan will answer!

Aragorn: I do not fear death

Aragorn: I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of Men fail… when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. This day, we fight!

Aragorn: I see in your eyes, the same fear that will take the heart of me! There will come a day, when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But that is NOT this day…(etc.)

Aragorn: I will go
Gandalf: No
Aragorn: They must be warned

Aragorn: I withold your oath forfilled. Go now, Be at peace.

Aragorn: Let the lord of the black land come forth, have justice done upon him!

Aragorn: This day does not go to one man, but to all.

Aragorn: [to hobbits as they bow to him] My friends… you bow to no one.
[Everyone bows to the hobbits]

Aragorn:my friends (frodo sam pippin and merry all bow) Aragorn: no, you bow to no one (everyone bows down to them)

Arwen – I wish I could have seen him one last time..

Arwen: From the ash, a fire will be woken. A light from the darkness shall spring. Renewed shall be blade that is broken. The crownless again shall be king.

Arwen: It is time. Give him the sword of the King.
[Gives the sword to Aragorn]
Elrond: Become who you were born to be

Arwen:From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.

Bilbo: I think I’m quite ready for another adventure..

Bilbo: I think I’m ready for another adventure!

Bilbo: Tell me again… where are we going?
Frodo: To the harbor, Bilbo. The elves have recorded you a high honor; a place on the last ship to leave Middle Earth.
Bilbo: Any chance of me seeing that old ring again? Hmm? The one I gave you?
Frodo: I’m sorry, Bilbo… I’m afraid I lost it.
Bilbo: Oh… pity.

Bilbo: What happend to my old ring that I gave you? Frodo: I lost it Bilbo: Aww..

Denethor: Can you sing Master Hobbit?
Pippin: [hesitates] Well, yes

Denethor: Fealty with love, fealty with love

Denethor: He is burning… already burning.
Pippin: He’s not dead. He’s not dead. No. No. He’s not dead. No.
Denethor: Hear now, Peregrin son of Paladin… I release you from my service. Go now and die in what way seems best for you.

Denethor: My son is dead! My line is finished! The city is taken! Run for your lives!

Denethor: The rule of Gondor is mine and no other’s!
Gandalf: Authority is not given to you, Steward Gondor, to deny the return of the king!

Denethor:I will not bow to this Ranger from the North!

Elrond (To Aragorn): Anduril, flame of the West…forged from the shards of Narsil. The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walk this earth. ~*~

Elrond: Ónen i-Estel Edain.
Aragorn: Ú-chebin Estel anim.
(trans.- Elrond- I gave Hope to the Dúnedain. Aragorn: I have kept no hope for myself.

Elrond: I come on behalf of one whom I love

Elrond: I looked into your future and saw death.
Arwen: But you also saw life, you saw my son.
Elrond: That fate is nearly faded.
Arwen: But it is not lost.

Elrond: This is your test. Every path you have trod through, wilderness, through war, has led to this road. The enemy will never let Aragorn come to the throne of Gondor

Elrond: You gave away your life’s grace. I cannot protect you anymore.

Elrond: Your hands are pale. The life of the Eldar is leaving you.
Arwen: This was my choice… ada, whether by your will or not, there is no ship now that will bear me hence.

Elrond: [in Elvish] I give hope to men.
Aragorn: [in Elvish] I keep none for myself.

Elrond: [in Elvish] I give hope to the West.
Aragorn: [in Elvish] I have kept none for myself.

Eomer: We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms.
Aragorn: Not for ourselves, but we can give Frodo a chance

Eomer: You should not encourage him.
Eowyn: You should not doubt him.
Eomer: I do not doubt his heart, only the reach of his arm.

Eowyn: He has just as much reason to go to war as you do! Why can he not defend those whom he loves?

Eowyn: I am no man.

Eowyn: I am no man.

Eowyn: I have to save you!
Theoden: You already have.

Eowyn: Ride with me.
Merry: My lady!

Eowyn: [To Merry] Whatever happens, stay with me.

Every path you have trod, through wilderness, through war. Has lead to this road!

Faramir: Since you are robbed of Boromir, I shall do what I can in his stead.
[He bows then begins to leave, then stops and looks back at Denethor]
Faramir: If I should return, think better of me, Father.
[Denethor doesn’t look up as he answers]
Denethor: That will depend upon the manner of your return.

Fararmir: Do you wish then, that our places were changed and it was I who died, and Boromir had lived?

Fear…the city is rank with it. Let us ease their pain. Release the prisoners!

For Frodo..

Frodo: (gasps) It’s sticky!

frodo: Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima!
(trans.- Hail Eärendil brightest of the Stars!)

Frodo: I need you on my side.
Sam: I am on your side Mr Frodo.
Frodo: I know you are Sam

Frodo: I set out to save the Shire, and it has been saved – but not for me.

Frodo: I’m glad I’m with you, Sam… here, at the end of all things.

Frodo: It’s been 4 years and 2 months to the day since weathertop Sam and it never really healed

Frodo: Its been 4 years to the day since weathertop, Sam, its never really healed. (rubs his sholder where he was struck with the Witchking’s blade)

Frodo: The Ring is mine.

Frodo: There are some things time cannot mend. Some hurts that go to deep..

Frodo: What is this place?
Gollum: Master must go inside the tunnel.
Frodo: Now that I’m here, I don’t think I want to.

Frodo: You can’t help me anymore.
Sam: You can’t mean that.
Frodo: Go home.

Frodo: [hands Sam the book] The last pages are for you, Sam.

Frodo: [Voiceover] How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there *is* no going back? There are some things time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep… and take hold.

Frodo: [Voiceover] My dear Sam… you cannot always be torn in two.

Galadrial: This task was appointed to you, and if you do not find a way, no one will.

Galadriel: And to you ringbearer, I give you the light of Eärendil our most beloved star. May it be a light to you in dark places when all other lights go out.
Frodo: Aiya Eärendil Elenion Ancalima

Gamling: We cannot win!
Theoden: No, but we will meet them in battle none the less!

Gandalf (To Aragorn and Legolas): Things are now in motion that cannot be undone. Sauron looked into the face of young Peregrin Took and mistaken him for the Ring-bearer. ~*~

Gandalf to Pippin: It’s the deep breath before the plunge

Gandalf- FOOL of a TOOK…….

Gandalf: All you have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to you

Gandalf: Authority is not given to you to deny the return of the king!

Gandalf: Death is not the end, just another path. One which we must take. (pauses and looks at Pippin) The grey veil of this world rolls back and all turns to silver glass… and then you see it.
Pippin: See what?
Gandalf: A green land amongst the sea.
Pippin: That doesn’t seem too bad.

Gandalf: Don’t say anything about his dear sons death…or Frodo and the Ring…or Aragorn…maybe u shouldn’t talk at all Peregrin Tuk

Gandalf: Faramir! Your father loves you! He doesn’t know it, but he will before the end!

Gandalf: Faramir! Your father loves you…he will remember it before the end.

Gandalf: Fight. Fight to the last man. Fight for your lives.

Gandalf: Fool of a Took!!

Gandalf: Hail Denethor, son of Ecthelion, Lord and Steward of Gondor.

Gandalf: I ride to Gondor
[looks at Pippin]
Gandalf: and I won’t be going alone

Gandalf: I will not say, Do not weep, for not all tears are evil.

Gandalf: If the beacons of Gondor are lit Rohan must answer the call
Theoden: Tell me, why should we go to the aid of those who did not come to ours? What do we owe Gondor?

Gandalf: If the Ring is destroyed, then Sauron will fall, and his fall will be so low that none will see his arising ever again. But if Sauron regains the Ring, his victory will be swift and complete.

Gandalf: Not at the towers. Aim for the trolls. Kill the trolls. Bring them down.

Gandalf: Now come to pass the days of the king, (whispers) may they be blessed.

Gandalf: Of all the inquisitive Hobbits, Peregrin Took, you are the worst!

Gandalf: Send these foul beasts back into the abyss.

Gandalf: Shadowfax, show us the meaning of haste

Gandalf: Show us the meaning of haste.

Gandalf: So it begins, the great battle of our time

Gandalf: So passes Denethor, son of Ecthelion

Gandalf: So passes Denethor, son of Ecthelion.

Gandalf: The board is set… the pieces are moving

Gandalf: There was no lie in Pippins eyes, he told Sauron nothing. He is a fool, but a honest fool at that.

Gandalf: This will be the end of Gondor as we know it. Here the hammer-stroke will fall hardest.

Gimli to Legolas after he takes down the Oliphant: That still only counts as one!

Gimli: Certain chance of death. Small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

Gimli: Certanity of death. Small chance of sucess. What are we waiting for?

Gimli: I never thought I’d die side by side with an Elf.
Legolas: What about side by side with a friend?
Gimli: Aye. I could do that.

Gimli: Of course he’s twitching, he’s got my axe embedded in his nervous system.

Gimli: Salted pork?

Gimli: This is something unheard of! An Elf will pass under a mountain, but a Dwarf dare not! Oh, I’ll never hear the end of it!

Go and die in whichever way suits you best.

Gollum/Smeagol: And they doesn’t taste very nice, does they, Precious?

Gollum: she has to eat the orcses.
Smeagol: And orcses dont taste very nice, does they precious?

Gollum: Smeagol wouldn’t hurt a fly.
[Gollum hits his forehead and looks into his hand, screaming at the fly smashed on it]

Gollum: Sneaking! Sneaking! We show him secret paths and he says sneaking! Sam: Well, what were you doing? Gollum: Sneaking

Gollum: They cursed us. Murderer they called us. They cursed us. And we wept. We wept to be so alone. And we only lust to catch fish so juicey sweet. And we forgot the taste of bread… the sound of trees… the softness of the wind. We even forgot our own name. My precious.

Gollum: Wake up, sleepies! We must go, yess…We must go at once.
[Sam sits up and looks at Frodo’s blank face.]
Sam: Haven’t you had any sleep, Mr. Frodo?
[Frodo merely shakes his head no.]

Gollum: WHy MuSt StUpId FaT HoBbItSeS cLiMb So HiGh…

Gollum: [singing] Pretty little fly. Why does he cry? Caught in a web. Soon he’ll be… eaten.

Gondorian Soldier: The beacon! The beacon of Amon Di is lit!
Gandalf: Hope is kindled

Gothmog: The Age of Men is over. Now comes the Age of the Orcs.

Hold your ground! Hold your ground! Sons of Gondor,Of Rohan, My brothers. I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day, An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down but it not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear of this good Earth, I bid you stand MEN OF THE WEST!!!

Home is behind the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread, through shadow, to the edge of night, till the stars are all alight. Mist and shadow, cloud and shade. All shall fade, all shall… fade.
~Pippin – Singing To Denethor

Home is behind. The world ahead. There are many paths to tread. Through shadow. Til the edge of night. Until the stars are all alight. Mist and shadow. Cloud and shade. Hope shall fail. All shall… fade.
(-Pippin’s song to Denethor, the Steward of Gondor)

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there *is* no going back? There are some things time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep that have taken hold.
~Frodo’s vioceover at the end of the film

I can’t carry the ring for you, but I can carry you!

I cannot be killed by man.
Well, I am no man.

I cannot carry it for you, Mr. Frodo.. But I can carry you!

i cannot give you wat you seek

I don’t want to be in a battle…but waiting on the edge of what I can’t escape is even worse.

I go now to my fathers. Where I shall know no fear or doubt

I heard it from his own mouth! He means to murder us!

I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me

I will not say ‘Do not weep’, for not all tears are evil.

I will not say, do not weep, for not all tears are evil.

I’m sorry sam…..

In the next scene we are outside. Gandalf, followed by the two hobbits is making his way to the
stables of Edoras.]
Gandalf: Of all the inquisitive hobbits, Peregrin Took, you are the worst! Hurry! Hurry!
[Merry follows Gandalf and Pippin runs behind him, trying to catch up with his friend, not really understanding what
is going on.]
Pippin: Where are we going?
Merry: Why did you look? Why do you always have to look!?
Pippin: Don’t know…I can’t help it!
Merry: You never can…
Pippin: I’m sorry, all right!
[They stop and Merry turns to look at Pippin, a serious look on his face.]
Pippin: I won’t do it again.
[Merry walks to Pippin, realizing the younger hobbit is totally unaware of things.]
Merry: Don’t you understand?! The enemy thinks you have the Ring!
[Pippin stares at Merry, a frown on his face.]
Merry: He’s going to be looking for you, Pip. They have to get you out of here.
Pippin: And y-you’re coming with me?
[Merry doesn’t answer, just walks away.]
Pippin: Merry?
Merry: Come on!
[We go inside the stables where Gandalf lifts Pippin up to sit on Shadowfax’s back.]
Pippin: How far is Minas Tirith?
Gandalf: Three day’s ride as the Nazgûl flies.
[Pippin purses his nose at the long journey.]
Gandalf: And we better hope we don’t have one of those on our tail…
[Merry comes forth and hands Pippin a pack.]
Merry: Here…Something for the road.
Pippin: The last of the Longbottom Leaf.
Merry: I know you’ve run out.
Merry: You smoke too much, Pip.
Pippin: B-but we’ll see each other soon…
[Merry glances at Gandalf, knowing how serious things actually are.]
Pippin: Won’t we?
Merry: I don’t know.
[Pippin stares at Merry, confused, as Gandalf gets up to sit behind him. Merry takes a few steps back, his voice
weakened by the lump in his throat.]
Merry: I don’t know what’s going to happen…
Pippin: Merry!
Gandalf: Run, Shadofax. Show us the meaning of haste.
Pippin: Merry!!!
[Shadowfax gallops out of the stables and Merry runs aft

It’s the Dwarves that go swimming with little hairy women!

King of the Dead: That sword was broken.
Aragorn: It has been remade.

King of the Dead: The dead suffer no one.
Aragorn: You will suffer me

King Theoden: Forth Eorlingas!!

Legolas: A diversion…

Legolas: Have you learned nothing of the stubbornness of Dwarves.

Legolas: The eye of the enemy is moving!

Legolas: The horses are restless, the men are quiet.

Legolas: The way is shut it was made by those who are dead and the dead keep it.

Legolas: The way is shut. It was made by the dead, and the dead keep it. The way is shut.

Legolas: There’s plenty for the both of us, may the best dwarf win.

Let him go, you filth. LET HIM GO!! You will not touch him again!! Come on and FINISH IT!!

Maybe one day the courage of men will fail but this is not that day!

Merry: Are you going to leave me?
Pippen: No, I am going to watch over you.

Merry: Are you going to leave me?
Pippin: No, Merry. I’m going to take care of you.

Merry: Pippin, where are we going to find a hot girl? Pippin: I found one, Morgan is her name.

Merry: Why did you look? Why do you always have to look?
Pippin: I don’t know. I can’t help it. Look, I’m sorry. I won’t do it again.
Merry: Don’t you understand? The enemy thinks you have the ring. They have to get you out of here.
Pippin: And you’re coming with me. (Pause) Merry?
Merry: Come on.

Merry: you smoke too much

Merry: You Smoke too much, Pip

Merry: [To Pippin] We shall see the Shire again.

Morgan from Eau Claire, WI to be precise. We wants her, we needs her. must have the precioussssssssss

Nazgul:Fool! No mortalman can kill me. Eowyn:I am no man!

Never thought I’d die side by side with an elf…
How about side by side with a friend?
Aye…I can do that

Now, listen carefully. Lord (insert character here) is (character)’s father. To give him news of his beloved son’s death would be most unwise. And do not mention (character), or the (item). And say nothing of (character) either. In fact, it’s better if you don’t speak at all.

PIPPIN (singing)-Home is behind, The world ahead, There are many paths to tread, Through shadow, To the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight, Mist and shadow, Cloud and shade, All shall fade, All shall…fade

Pippin and Merry: (Green Dragon) Ph, you can search far and wide You can drink the whole town dry But you’ll never find a beer so brown As the one we drink in our hometown. You drink your fancey ales, You You can drink ’em by the flagon! But the only brew for the brave and true COMES FROME THE GREEN DRAGON!

Pippin: Home is behind the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread, distant shadow, cloud and shade. All shall fade, the world shall…….fade.

Pippin: Home is behind, the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread. Through shadow to the edge of night. Until the stars are all alight. Mist and shadow, cloud and shape, hope shall fail, all shall fade

Pippin: How far is Minis Tirith?
Gandalf: Three days, as the Nazgul flies, and you’d better hope we don’t have one of those on our tails

Pippin: I didn’t think it would end this way.
Gandalf: End? The journey does not end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take.

Pippin: Is there much hope for Frodo and Sam? Gandalf: There was never much hope. Just a fool’s hope.

Pippin: It’s so quiet.
Gandalf: It’s the deep breath before the plunge.
Pippin: I don’t want to be in a battle. But waiting on the edge of what I can’t escape is even worse.

Pippin: So I imagine this is just a ceremonial position. I mean, they don’t actually expect me to do any fighting. Do they?
Gandalf: You’re in the service of the steward now. You’re going to have to do as you’re told, Peregrin Took, guard of the Citadel.

Pippin: The closer we are to danger, the further we are from harm.

Pippin: The salted pork is particularly good.

Pippin: We’ll see each other soon. Won’t we?
Merry: I don’t know, Pip. I don’t know what’s going to happen.

Pippin: We’ve got the white wizard that’s got to count for something

Pippin: [Singing To Denethor] Home is behind the world ahead, and there are many paths to tread, through shadow, to the edge of night, till the stars are all alight. Mist and shadow, cloud and shade. All shall fade, all shall… fade.

Pippin:We happen to be sitting on a battlefield and are enjoying a few well earned spirits. Gandalf:Hobbits.

Put aside the ranger. Become who you were born to be.

Ride with me!

Sam : What are you up to ? Sneaking off are we ?

Gollum : S-sneaking Sneaking ? Fat Hobbit is always so polite. Sméagol shows them secret ways that nobody else can find, and they say sneak ! Sneak ! Very nice friend, oh yes, my precious, very nice, very…

Sam : Alright, alright ! You just startled me is all. What were you doing ?

Gollum : Sneaking.

Sam : Fine, have it your own way.

SAM WISE GAMGEE:WELL I’M BACK…….

Sam- I cannot carry it for you…but I can carry you!

Sam: Dancing Rosie Cotton. I woulda married Rosie. If I’d have ever married anyone, it would have been her.

Sam: Do you remember the taste of strawberries with cream?

Sam: Don’t go where I can’t follow!

Sam: He means to murder us!
Gollum: Never!

Sam: I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Sam: I cannot carry the ring for you, but I can carry you

Sam: I’m sorry to wake you, Mr. Frodo. We have to be moving on.
[Slowly Frodo gets up, his voice sounding wearied.]
Frodo: It’s dark still…
Sam: It’s always dark here

Sam: It’ll be Spring back in the Shire, and the fields will be blossoming, and the birds’ll be nesting in the hazel thicket, and they’ll be planting the summer barley in the lower fields, and eating the first of the strawberries with cream. Do you remember the taste of strawberries, Mr. Frodo?
Frodo: No, Sam. I can’t recall the taste of food, nor the sound of water, nor the touch of grass. I’m naked in the dark. There’s nothing–no veil between me and the wheel of fire. I can see him with my waking eyes.
Sam: Then let us be rid of it. I can’t carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Sam: It’s that Gollum, it’s this place, it’s that thing around your neck. I could help a bit, I could carry it, share the load.
Frodo: Stay away from me
Sam: I don’t want to keep it. I just want to help

Sam: Put him down, you filth!

SAM: Rosie Cotton dancin’. She had ribbons in her hair. If ever i was to marry someone, it woulda been her…it woulda been her.
FRODO: I’m glad to be with you Samwise Gamgee…here at the end of all things.

Sam: This way Mr. Frodo…
Gollum: [in a panic] What’s he doing?

Sam: Well, I’m back.

Sam: What’re you doing? Sneaking around you are!
Gollum: Oh, that’s nice! Smeagol leads them places no one else knows of, Smeagol helps Hobbitses and look how he’s treated!
Sam: I’m sorry, you just startled me that’s all. What were you doing?
Gollum: Sneaking…

Sam: You miserable little maggot!

Sam:Mr.frodo do remember fresh strawberries and cream.. Frodo: no sam I can’t recall the taste of food, no feel of water, no sound of wind, no memory of tree or grass or flower, no image of the moon or star left to me. I am naked in the dark,Sam, and there is no veil between me and the wheel of fire. I begin to see it even with my waking eyes, and all else fades… Sam: Then lets be rid of it come on Mr. Frodo I can’t carry it for you..BUT I CAN CARRY YOU!!!!

She’s always hungry. She always needs…to feed. She must eat. All she gets is filthy orcses. And they doesn’t taste very nice, does they, Precious? No… Not very nice at all.

Show us the meaning of hast. (Gandalf to his horse before they leave for Minas Tirith)

Smeagol: Give that to us, Deagol my love.
Deagol: Why?
Smeagol: Because it’s my birthday, and I wants it.

Smeagol: Why does the fat hobbit hurt Smeagol? Smeagol never do anything to him.?

Sons of Gondor! Of Rohan! My brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down but it is not this day. This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand! Men of the West!

that one ^ isnt exactly right, but it is similar…i couldnt remember the actual one

That only counts as one!!

That still counts as one!

That still only counts as ONE.

The board is set, the pieces are moving.

The Eye of the Enemy is moving

The halfling was dear to thee, I see. Know that he suffered greatly at the hands of his host. Who could have thought one so small could endure so much pain?

The Table is set. The peices are moving.

The way is shut, it was made by those who are dead, and the dead keep it. The way is shut.

The Witch King: Do not come between the Nazgul and his prey.

Theoden: (mustering the rohirrim for their charge) Ride now! Ride now! Ride for ruin and the worlds ending! FORTH EORLINGAS!

Theoden: Hail the victorious dead!
All: Hail!

Theoden: I would have you smile again… Do not grieve for those whose time has come

Theoden: Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered. It is a sword-day; a red day, ere the sun rises!

There was never much hope. Only a fool’s hope. (Gandalf to Pippin)

There was no lie in Pippin’s eyes. A fool, but an honest fool he remains.

Things are in motion now that cannot be undone

This day, we fight!!

this is a sword day! this is a red day! this is a day for battle!

this is for the movie freak………good god you have alot of time on your hands, that being said……’you will suffer me’

Treebeard: Tree? I am no tree! I am an Ent.

we are sitting, on a field of victory, enjoying a few well earned comforts…the salted pork is particularly good.

We set out to save the Shire, *name*, and it was saved. But not for me.

Witch King (holding Eowyn by the throat): Fool. No man may kill me… Eowyn: (pulls off her helmet, revealing that she’s a woman): I am no man. (Stabs him in the head, killing him)

Witch King: Feast on his flesh.

You always have to look. (Merry to Pipin before Gandalf takes Pippin to Minas Tirith)

You do not have the Sovereignty to deny the return of the king!

You don’t see it, do you? He’s a villain!

[after Legolas single-handedly takes out a war elephant and its drivers]
Gimli: Bah! That still only counts as one!

[After Pippin finds Merry on the battlefield.]
Merry: I knew you’d find me

[Aragorn is crowned King]
Aragorn: This day does not belong to one man but to all. Let us together rebuild this world that we may share in the days of peace.

[Aragorn is dreaming of Arwen, who has just given up her immortality]
Arwen: I wish I could have seen him again, one last time.

[Aragorn is looking toward the paths of the dead, when Gimli interrupts]
Gimli: Aragorn, let’s go find some food.

[Aragorn readies to take the Paths of the Dead. He leads his horse towards the entrance and passes by Gimli, who stops him.]
Gimli: Where do you think you’re going?
Aragorn: Not this time Gimli.
Leogolas: You apparently know nothing of the stubbornness of Dwarfs.
Gimli: We’re coming with you laddie, whether you like it or not.

[Aragorn takes the cup and drinks as Èowyn watches him with a radiant smile on her face. He gives it back and walks
away. Théoden joins Èowyn and watches Aragorn leave.]
Théoden: I am happy for you. He is an honorable man.
Èowyn: You are both honorable men.
Théoden: It was not Théoden of Rohan who led our people to victory.

[Arwen is running into Rivendell and going up to her father.]
Arwen: You have the gift of forsight. You saw.
Elrond: Arwen.
Arwen: What did you see?
Elrond: I saw death in your future.
Arwen: But there was also life. You saw the child, you saw my son.
Elrond: Nothing is for certain.
Arwen: I know that if I leave him, I will regret it for the rest of my life.

[As he kills the three Orcs guarding Frodo.]
Sam: That’s for Frodo! And that’s for the Shire! And that’s for my old Gaffer!

[Frodo drinks the last drops of water from Sam’s waterskin]
Frodo: There’ll be none left for the journey back.
Sam: I don’t think there’s going to be a journey back

[Frodo, Sam and Gollum are all asleep somewhere near Minas Morgul. Gollum is talking in his sleep.]
Gollum: Too risky…Too risky…Thieves! They stole It from us…kill them…kill them…kill them both!

[Gollum and Frodo stand in front of an opening, and Frodo hesitates to go in.]
Gollum: We go this way, or we go back.
Frodo: We cannot go back.

[Gollum has led Frodo all the way up to the entrance to Shelob’s Lair. He’s squatting on a rock, pointing with
his hand, telling Frodo to go inside.]
Gollum: There…
[Frodo is looking into the dark tunnel, holding his nose. The sound of wind and dropping water can be heard
from inside.]
Frodo: What is this place?
Gollum: Master must go inside the tunnel.
Frodo: Now that I’m here, I don’t think I want to.
[Frodo is about to step back and Gollum is getting nervous.]
Gollum: It’s the only way! Go in…or go back.
Frodo: I can’t go back…
[With this, the hobbit hesitantly enters the tunnel. Gollum follows him, pleased that his plan is working.]
Frodo: What’s that smell?
Gollum: Orcse’s filth…orcses come in here sometimes.
[Inside the the tunnel it’s very dark. The walls are covered with sticky web and weird honeycomb-like
shapes in the stone. Frodo stumbles forward and Gollum quickly disappears, so that only his voice is
heard anymore.]
Gollum:Hurry!
[Frodo’s breathing is getting rapid as he realizes that his guide is nowhere to be seen.]
Frodo: Sméagol??
Gollum: …Over here!
[As Frodo fumbles in the dark, we can see the place is filled with bones. Frodo loses his footing and stumbles. As he
leans against the stone wall, he realizes it’s sticky.]
Frodo: Ahh! It’s sticky! What is it?!
[Frodo is scared, the growing panic visible in his voice.]
Gollum: You will see…Oh yesss, you will see…
[Frodo stops and looks for Gollum.]
Frodo: Sméagol? Sméagol!?
[There is no answer.]
Frodo: Sméagol!!!
[Frodo looks around him and sees no one. Tears fill his eyes as he realizes Gollum has lead him into this horrible
place and that he is alone.]
Frodo: Sam…
[As Frodo remembers Sam, both remorse and hate flash on his face.]
[He steps forward and looks down. The floor is filled with bones. Frodo’s breathing starts to quicken and he
looks around once more. This time he sees a carcass of a bird, hanging from the ceiling, wrapped inside cobweb.
T

[Gollum wakes up with a scream.]
Gollum: Shhh! Quiet! Musn’t wake them!
Gollum: Musn’t ruin it now!
[Gollum crawls down from where he was sleeping and makes his way to a little pool of water.]
Sméagol: But they knows! They knows! They suspects us!
[The Sméagol side sits on the edge of the pool and the Gollum side looks back from the water.]
Gollum: What’s it saying, my precious, my love? Is Sméagol losing his nerve?
Sméagol:No! Not! Never!
Sméagol: Sméagol hates nasty hobbitses! Sméagol wants to see them…dead!
Gollum: And we will. Sméagol did it once; he can do it again.
[A flashback of Sméagol strangling Déagol at the river-bank.]
Sméagol: It’s ours!!! Ours!!!
Sméagol: We must get the Precious! We must get It back!
Gollum: Patience! Patience, my love.
Gollum: First we must lead them to her.
Sméagol: We lead them to the winding stairs.
Gollum: Yes, the stairs…and then?
Sméagol: Up, up, up, up the stairs we go and then we come to…the tunnel.
Gollum: And when they go in, there’s no coming out.
Gollum: She’s always hungry. She always needs to feed. She must eat. All she gets is filthy orcses.
Sméagol: And they doesn’t taste very nice, does they, precious?
Gollum: No, not very nice at all, my love.
Gollum: She hungers for sweeter meats…
[Farther away Sam is waking up, slowly opening his eyes, hearing Gollum having the conversation with himself.]
Gollum: …hobbit meat. And when she throws away the bones and empty clothes, then we will find It!
Sméagol: And take It for meeeee!!!
Gollum: For ussss.
Sméagol: Yes, we meant, we meant for us.
Gollum: Gollum! Gollum!
Gollum: The Precious will be ours…once the hobbitses are dead.
[Gollum drops a stone into the pool and as the reflection in the water becomes still again, Gollum’s eyes are met
by Sam’s. Sam hits Gollum in the head, sending him flying through the air.]
Sam: You treacherous little filth!
Gollum: Argh! No! Master!
[Frodo awakes from his sleep when he hears Gollum’s screams

[Gorbag advances towards Frodo with a knife]
Gorbag: I’m gonna bleed you like a stuck pig!
[Gorbag is stabbed from behind by Sam]
Sam: Not if I stick you first!

[hands Aragorn a goblet]
Eowyn: Westu Aragorn Hál!
[Aragorn drinks it]
Theoden: (to Eowyn)I am happy for you. He is an honorable man.
Eowyn: You are both honorable men.
Theoden: It was not Theoden of Rohan that led us to victory.

[In the next scene we are inside the room where Gandalf and the hobbits are sleeping. Pippin wakes up. He stands up from
his bed on the floor and sneaks towards Gandalf.]
Merry: What are you doing?
[Pippin turns, surprised, but doesn’t give Merry an answer. As he stands beside Gandalf’s bed, Pippin is startled, for
the wizard sleeps with his eyes open.]
Merry: Pippin!
[Pippin takes a closer look at Gandalf and waves a hand in front of his eyes to make sure he is asleep.]
Merry: Pippin?
[Merry sits up in his bed as Pippin is about to replace the Palantír in Gandalf’s grip with a pot. The wizard mutters
something in his sleep, causing the hobbit to draw back. Quickly Pippin snatches the Palantír, wrapped in a cloth, without
disturbing Gandalf’s sleep.]
Merry: Pippin! Are you mad?!
Pippin: I just want to look at it! Just one more time…
[Pippin unwraps the cloth and takes out the Stone, sweat glistening on his face.]
Merry: Put it back!
[With a satisfied smile on his face Pippin lowers his hands on the stone.]
Merry: Pippin…
[The smile on the hobbit’s face soon fades as the Lidless Eye appears in the Palantír. Pippin is unable to take his hands
off the Stone and starts to shake.]
Merry: No! …Pippin!
[Merry watches, scared, as his friend struggles with the glowing Palantír. We see Legolas and Aragorn, still outside the
Golden Hall. Legolas turns to look at Aragorn, alarmed.]
Legolas: He is here!
Voice of Sauron: I see you…
Merry: Pippin!!!
[Pippin jumps up, holding the Palantír as if it were glued to his hands. We see in slow-motion as the hobbit struggles
with the flaming Stone, falling down on his back. Sauron’s voice whispers in the background and Pippin cries in agony.]
Merry: Help!!! Gandalf!
[Finally Gandalf stirs from his sleep and jumps up from his bed. Aragorn and Legolas storm into the room as well.]
Merry: Help him! Someone help him!
[Aragorn snatches the Palantír from Pippin’s hands but falls on his knees, taken over by i

[It is dawn. Èowyn is standing alone outside, watching the sun rise and is joined by her uncle.]
Théoden: I have left instructions. The people are to follow your rule in my stead.
[Théoden turns around and walks to stand before his serious-looking niece.]
Théoden: Take up my seat in the Golden Hall. Long may you defend Edoras if the battle goes ill.
Èowyn: What other duty would you have me do, my lord?
Théoden: Duty? No…
[He walks to Èowyn and takes her hands into his own.]
Théoden: I would have you smile again. Not grief for those whose time has come.
Théoden: You shall live to see these days renewed.
[Théoden cups his niece’s face and presses their foreheads together.]
Théoden: No more despair.

[It is daytime and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are making their way to the Dark Door, the entrance to the Paths of the Dead.]
Gimli: What kind of army would linger in such a place?
Legolas: One that is cursed. Long ago the Men of the Mountain swore an oath to the last king of Gondor…To come to his aid, to fight. But when the time came, when Gondor’s need was dire, they fled… Vanishing into the darkness of the mountain… And so Isildur cursed them…never to rest, until they had fulfilled their pledge.
[The three of them finally stand before the slope of Dwimorberg, leading their restless horses towards the entrance.]
Gimli: The very warmth of my blood seems drawn away.
[Legolas stops and stares at the entrance. He reads what is written above.]
Legolas: The way is shut…it was made by those who are dead…and the dead keep it. They way is shut.
[A sudden blast of wind, mingled with the cries of the dead, coming from inside scares away the horses.]
Aragorn: Brego!
[Aragorn turns to look at the entrance.]
Aragorn: I do not fear death!
[With this, he walks in and disappears into the darkness. Legolas and Gimli are left behind and watch in terror. Legolas
is the next one to step in. Only Gimli remains outside.]
Gimli: Well this is something unheard of! An elf will go underground where a dwarf dare not! Ahh…I’ll never hear the end of it! [not sure about this]
[Gimli, too, enters the Paths of the Dead.]

[It is night and Aragorn is walking outside the Golden Hall, his pipe in his hands. He turns to look to his left and sees
a dark figure, standing very still, a few meters away. Aragorn makes his way to Legolas, who is gazing into the direction
of Mordor.]
Legolas: The stars are veiled.
[Aragorn comes to stand beside Legolas.]
Legolas: Something stirs in the East…A sleepless malice.
[They glance at each other.]
Legolas: The Eye of the enemy is moving.

[Singing]
Merry} and, Pippin: You can drink your fancy ales!/ You can drink them by the flagon!/ But the only brew for the brave and truuuuuueee/ comes from the Green Dragon!

[The next day Gandalf is having a conversation with Théoden about the night’s events. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli
are also present.]
Gandalf: There was no lie in Pippin’s eyes.
Gandalf: A fool…but an honest fool he remains.
[Farther away sits Pippin with Merry, looking remorseful.]
Gandalf: He told Sauron nothing of Frodo and the Ring.
Gandalf: We’ve been strangely fortunate. Pippin saw in the Palantír a glimpse of the enemy’s plan.
Gandalf: Sauron moves to strike the city of Minas Trirth. His defeat at Helm’s Deep showed our enemy one thing:
He knows the heir of Elendil has come forth.
Gandalf: Men are not as weak as He supposed; there is courage still. Strength enough perhaps to challenge Him.
Sauron fears this.
[All the others are silent and listen as Gandalf continues.]
Gandalf: He will not risk the peoples of Middle-Earth uniting under one banner.
Gandalf: He will raze Minas Tirith to the ground before he sees a King return to the throne of men.
Gandalf: If the Beacons of Gondor are lit, Rohan must be ready for war.
Théoden: Tell me, why should we ride to the aid of those who did not come to ours?
[All are silent. Aragorn turns to look at Théoden.]
Théoden: What do we owe Gondor?
Aragorn: I will go.
Gandalf: No!
Aragorn: They must be warned!
Gandalf: They will be.
[Gandalf walks to where Aragorn is standing with Legolas and Gimli by his side.]
Gandalf: You must come to Minas Tirith by other road. Follow the river and look to the Black ships.
[Aragorn meets Gandalf’s eyes before the wizard turns to face the others.]
Gandalf: Understand this: things are now in motion that cannot be undone. I ride for Minas Tirith…
[He turns to look at Pippin.]
Gandalf: …And I won’t be going alone.

[to Legolas]
Aragorn: Hannon le. (thank you)

[We go back to Aragorn, who is making his way forward inside the underground realm, using a torch. Legolas and
Gimli follow behind him. Finally they reach their destination. They stop before the huge double doors and look around.]
The King of the Dead: Who enters my domain?
[Aragorn turns around and sees the King appear in front of the steps, leading to the doors.]
Aragorn: One who will have your allegiance.
The King of the Dead: The dead do not suffer the living to pass.
Aragorn: You will suffer me!
[The King lets out a chilling laughter and Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli turn to look around. They see how the dead army
turns visible around them and starts to float toward them.]
The King of the Dead: The way is shut…it was made by those who are dead…and the dead keep it.
[They look around them and see that they are surrounded by the dead.]
The King of the Dead: The way is shut. Now you must die.
[The King moves towards Aragorn. Legolas immediately fires an arrow, but it flies through the King.]
Aragorn: I summon you to fulfil your oath.
The King of the Dead: None, but the king of Gondor may command me!
[Aragorn readies Andúril for the strike. The King swings his sword but Aragorn blocks the blow and the blade of
Andúril is on the King’s neck.]
The King of the Dead: That blade was broken!
Aragorn: It has been re-made.
[Aragorn pushes the King back and the dead remain silent and watch.]
Aragorn: Fight for us and regain your honor. What say you?
[The dead are silent and watch as Aragorn walks around them, holding out Andúril.]
Aragorn: What say you?!
Gimli: You waste your time, Aragorn! They had no honor in life, they have none now in death.
Aragorn: I am Isildur’s heir. Fight for me!And I will hold your oath fulfilled!
[The King merely smiles as Aragorn points his sword at him.]
Aragorn: What say you!?

[We go to a beautiful and tranquil forest and see the Elves on their way to the Grey Havens. The only sound on the background
is the song of the birds and the light swish of the elven-robes. We see Arwen, sitting on Asfaloth’s back.]
Elrond VO: Take her by the safest road. A ship lays anchored in the Grey Havens; it waits to carry her across the Sea.The last journey of Arwen Undómiel.
[The party of the elves moves on. No sounds are heard. Suddenly we see a little boy in a white shirt, appear from nowhere.
He runs into the woods (almost in slow-motion).]
[Arwen turns to look at the boy and before her eyes, opens a vision of a grey-haired Aragorn, running to the little boy
who is Eldarion, their son. Aragorn takes Eldarion in his arms and spins him around, both are laughing.]
[Arwen watches this, tears forming in her eyes. Aragorn kisses his son who then turns his face in Arwen’s direction,
meeting her eyes. We see that Eldarion is carrying Evenstar around his neck.
[Eldarion continues to stare at his mother and finally a single tear rolls down Arwen’s cheek and she closes her eyes.]
[A flashback of Elrond in The Two Towers.]
Elrond: There is nothing for you here, only death.
[Arwen opens her eyes again and the vision is gone. One of the elves (Figwit for fangirls) walks to Arwen.]
Elf: Lady Arwen, we cannot delay.
[Without saying a word, Arwen makes Asfaloth turn back, intenting to return to Rivendell.]
Elf: My lady!
[In the next scene we see Arwen arrive in the now deserted Rivendell where her father sits alone, writing something with
a quill. He turns and watches as Arwen throws her velvet robe to the ground and hurries to her father.]
Arwen: Tell me what you have seen!
Elrond: Arwen!
Arwen: You have the gift of foresight, what did you see?
Elrond: I looked into your future and I saw death.
Arwen: There is also life. You saw there was a child. You saw my son.
[Elrond turns his back at his daughter and leans against a railing and looks at the

[We then go back to Dunharrow where the men prepare to leave in a hurry. Théoden and Èomer come out of a tent.]
Théoden: We must ride light and swift. It’s a long road ahead. The men and beast must reach the end with a strength to fight.
[Merry, too, is ready to leave, but Théoden won’t take him with them.]
Théoden: Little hobbits do not belong in war, master Meriadoc.
Merry: All my friends have gone to battle! I will be ashamed to be left behind!
Théoden: It is a three day gallop to Minas Tirith and none of my riders can bear you as a burden.
Merry: I want to fight!
Théoden: I will say no more.
[With this, Théoden rides away, leaving the disappointed Merry to stand and watch as the men ride past him.
But as Merry is standing there, one of the riders, Dernhelm, who is really Èowyn in disguise, picks Merry
up from the ground to ride with her.]
Èowyn/Dernhelm: Ride with me.
Merry: My lady?
Èomer: Form up! Move out!
Théoden: Ride! Ride now for Gondor!

[With Gandalf’s lead, Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are riding through the Fangorn forest, towards Isengard. they see merry and Pippin sitting on the wall]
Pippin: I feel like I’m back at the Green Dragon after a hard day’s work.
Merry: Only, you’ve never done a hard day’s work. [both laugh]

{singing}The only brew of the proud and true
Hails from the green dragon!
