Hillary Clinton crossed the line with slash and burn, says Gary Hart and Keith Oberman

March 8, 2008

Gary Hart’s post on www.huffingtonpost.com   and Keith Oberman’s rant on msnbc.com both said that Hillary Clinton went far too far, when she said that she and John McCain are both ready to be Commander in Chief, but Obama is not.  Says Huffingtonpost:

Tonight on his show, Keith Olbermann eviscerated Hillary Clinton for a good ten minutes for promoting John McCain’s presidency over her fellow Democrats. He compared her to Joe Lieberman. He asked “is she equating her time in the East Wing with McCain’s time in the Hanoi Hilton?” You have got to watch these videos. They’re devastating in only the way that Keith can be.

And Gary Hart strongly agrees:

By saying that only she and John McCain are qualified to lead the country, particularly in times of crisis, Hillary Clinton has broken that rule, severely damaged the Democratic candidate who may well be the party’s nominee, and, perhaps most ominously, revealed the unlimited lengths to which she will go to achieve power. She has essentially said that the Democratic party deserves to lose unless it nominates her.

I have an increasingly uneasy feeling that Hillary Clinton wants the Presidency so badly she will slash and burn the democratic party to get it.  She is giving the republicans the ammunition they need to attack Obama should he be the nominee. And since he has more delegates, surely she must recognize that is a distinct possibility.  Perhaps such strongly negative tactics will come back against her, as more people realize how inappropriate and damaging some of her attacks are.
