Heath Ledger Found Dead in his SOHO Apartment. May have died from overdose.
Heath Ledger has died in an apartment in New York City.
Early reports were that he was found dead on his bed. Updated reports are that he was laying face down on the floor. There were reportedly prescription medications around him. He was found in the SOHO apartment by a house keeper, at 3:35 ET today. Law enforcement sources told TMZ they don’t believe it was a crime.
Reports are that a masseuse arrived at his apartment and was let in the door by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. Paramedics arrived and attempted to perform CPR on him, but were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 28 year old actor became known for his role in the film “A Knight’s Tale” and was also in “The Brother’s Grimm”, ”Home and Away” and ”Casanova”, among other films. He was nominated for an academy award in 2006 for Brokeback Mountain. He has completed shooting in the upcoming Batman movie “The Dark Knight”. The buzz has been that his performance as the joker was beyond excellent.
Ledger had a two year old daughter with former fiancee Michelle Williams.
We are shocked by the news, wish his daughter and everyone close to him well in this time of shock, grief and healing. You were a very talented actor, Heath.

Did Heath Ledger overdose though? I read from this website that he checked into an Australian rehabilitation facility last year to learn injection of heroin for the movie Candy.
