Golden retrievers are large, strong dogs that have a reputation as being one of the smartest breeds available. Though they are known for their performance in competitions and their many different tricks, few people realize that Golden retrievers are actually some of the best house pets around.
As puppies, Golden retrievers are beautiful additions to any family. They look a little bit like a Labrador retriever in their body makeup, but the difference comes with the coat. While labs have a characteristically short coat, Golden Retrievers are known for their long, flowing locks of hair. Many of these puppies are golden as indicated by their name. Some come in a good looking brown color, though.
Golden retrievers are known for their ability to get along well with children. They have a playful nature that comes in handy when dealing with each member of your family. Above that, they have an ability to focus on tasks that can rival any other puppy breed. When you bring home a Golden retriever, training must take place immediately. Their playful and rambunctious nature can be reigned in quickly and easily, but training must take place. With an easy series of commands, one can teach a Golden retriever to be both playful and calm, depending upon the occasion.
The Golden Retriever has few, if any, enemies. Unlike other dog breeds, Golden Retrievers don’t show aggression towards people or other dogs, even as puppies. Golden retriever puppies learn to share their space and although they make nice watch dogs, they will never attack. This is especially true of those Golden retrievers who are socialized with people and other dogs at a very young age.
As a general rule, Golden retrievers are extremely healthy. The majority of their problems are simply cosmetic, although certain things can get worse with age. Golden retrievers are known to have failing eyesight as they grow in age. Everyday exercise can help this puppy breed stay healthy and stop heart problems that they might otherwise suffer from.
A Golden retriever is an incredible pet if it’s trained appropriately. Though you might not want to enter the puppy in any competitions, it can learn enough things to be an effective member of a family. House training is especially easy, as the dog responds well to praise.

Golden retrivers are the most animated dogs I have ever seen. On top of that they are gorgeous! Anyone is lucky to have a triver by their side

Hey,
Just wanted to say how much i love the pic you have of the golden retriever…i am a colored pencil artist and i have used it to draw a picture several times. All the people I give those pictures to LOVE it. They think the dog is adorable…I drew one in large form and framed it…it is now hanging on the wall in my room. That is a very good picture!! =)

Hi I had two golden retrievers [too bad one of them had to be put down] but they both looked like that!!! the one I still have is all grown up now but he’s still cute and I LOVE him alot

I HAD A GOLDEN HER NAME IS SALLY, MY HUSBAND AND I MOVED TO FL THINKING OUR HOME THERE WOULD BE TOO SMALL AND THE LANDLORD WOULD NOT ALLOW US TO BRING HER.WE OPTED OUT AND FOUND A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY FOR ER AND FOR SALLY SHES HAPPY, FOR US WE MISS HER DESPERATELY.I FEEL LIKE I GAVE UP MY CHILD. I wasnt a dog lover till Betty our gold ret came to us (as a bday present to my son). Now I’m happy taking good care of my 3 babies — my 2 sons and a girl -Betty!

i have been looking at types of dogs coz i am desperate for a dog but coz my mum does daycare at home i have to look for good family dogs.i’ve been reading about golden retrievers nd i just love them, but i dont think mum will let me have one coz they mite be a bit big:(
