Fast online master degrees and masters programs: How fast is too fast? For some people interested in boosting their resume, a fast and easy life experience masters degree seems to be an attractive option. Pay your money, get your degree. The companies- I mean schools, have verification call centers that verify to your employer you earned your degree from their respected overnight program. Many of those who try this approach discover it just isn't worth it-- Their employer didn't "buy it" and knew that they DID buy it- the degree that is. Most employers can notice that "Harvvard" isn't the school in Boston. So the question is, is it ever appropriate for online masters programs to give credit for life experience and work experience? Credit for work experience makes sense when you think about it. There are respected, accredited programs that do allow SOME credit for life experience. After all, 10 years of real, practical business experience is surely worth something compared with an 8 week on-line course. If an on line degree program seems to be TOO much credit, and TOO easy- it probably isn't going to be worth very much. You get what you work for, at least, with degrees. The safest bet is probably to go with a respected, recognized school that is known for your area of focus. Be wary of "accredited online universities" that no one seems to have heard of. there might be a reason!
