Online
Ministry and Divinity Masters and PhD Doctorate degrees in Religious Studies.
There
are now more accredited online ministry and divinity degree and
continuing Christian education diploma courses than ever before.
And the options keep expanding. Each year, there are several new
programs, Some are started from scratch, but most are extentions of
already existing seminaries and schools of ministry. So how to
choose? When it comes to religious studies online, an obvious place to
start is finding an online college, university, seminary or school
program that fits your own religious convictions and interests, as well
as your educational goals. It is not unheard of for someone to
take classes from an institution with different idiologies, and that
can actually be expanding. But for most people, starting with finding a
program offering online courses which fit with their own religious
understanding is the obvious place to start. This greatly narrows
the field of options, but in most cases still leaves many on line
schools to choose from.
Another major question to consider is what will the online diploma and
degree be used for? What is the goal? Is it simply to have a piece of
paper (in which case the question may be how to buy a life
experience degree). Other life experience online programs don't
just let you buy a diploma- they do carefully consider your experience
and determine what life experience credit for online degree programs is
appropriate. Then they require you to take additional courses or
self-directed study to earn your diploma. If, however, your goal
is to make sure any future career options are helped by your degree
rather than hurt, a priority must be to find a RESPECTED, ACCREDITED
seminary, college, university or program. And keep in mind, the
word accredited doesn't actually mean anything. There are several fly
by night diploma mill companies that are "accredited". So be sure to
make sure the program is respected, particularly by those who might
look at your degree, diploma or education resume in order to help
determine if you are qualified for the position. Continuing
education and Christian Education are both fast growing fields. With a
little time and effort, you should be able to find the right program
for you. Just make sure you do some digging and investigate if the
program is all it's claiming to be.
